Find Your Thailand: What Indian Couples Really Want From a Destination Wedding Escape

By 4 min read

A Wedding Vows × Tourism Authority of Thailand Couple Insights Report reveals how 154 Indian couples are dreaming, discovering and planning their Thailand wedding and honeymoon journeys.

Thailand is emerging as more than a destination on a wedding checklist—it is increasingly becoming part of the larger Indian couple’s celebration story.

The “Find Your Thailand: Couple Insights Report 2026”, a joint initiative by Wedding Vows × Tourism Authority of Thailand, offers a first-party glimpse into how Indian couples perceive destination weddings, honeymoons and travel experiences in Thailand. Conducted in August 2026, the campaign captured 154 couple entries, translating spontaneous three-emoji love stories into destination recommendations across Thailand.

Rather than asking couples to select a destination from a conventional list, the campaign first asked them to describe their relationship through three emojis. Their stories were then matched with Thai destinations, creating a more personality-led way of understanding travel intent.

The Numbers Behind the Love

The campaign generated substantial digital engagement:

Campaign Metric Result
Couple entries 154
Accounts reached 115,089
Views 431,790
Total interactions 6,236
Profile actions 1,851
New followers 133
External link taps 69
Saves 77
Likes 5,890
Shares 92

The figures, drawn from the campaign’s engagement post and Instagram Insights, indicate that the conversation extended beyond passive viewing, with couples moving from engagement towards profile exploration and external links.

154 couples. Nine destinations. One clear message: there is no single Thailand.

The campaign matched couples across nine destinations, with Krabi, Phuket and Koh Samui recording the leading demand. The complete destination spread included Krabi, Phuket, Koh Samui, Khao Lak, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin.

Beyond the Wedding Day

One of the report’s most interesting signals is that couples were not looking at Thailand purely through the lens of a wedding ceremony.

The campaign received participation from engaged, soon-to-be-married and newly married couples, suggesting interest spanning the broader celebration journey—from wedding planning and destination celebrations to honeymoon experiences.

This also changes the way destination wedding content needs to speak to today’s couple. The report notes that practical planning content—particularly around costs, logistics and pre-wedding considerations—was among the content couples chose to save.

In other words, inspiration may create the initial desire, but useful information helps move that desire towards planning.

Identity Before Destination

The three-emoji format produced another notable insight: couples introduced themselves before being presented with a destination.

The report interprets this as a signal that destination choice can follow the couple’s identity and personality, rather than beginning with a predetermined location. Adventure-seeking couples, romantics, quiet travellers and those looking for grandeur could all enter the conversation through their own story first.

That approach also opened the door to Thailand’s lesser-known wedding and travel regions. According to the report, all nine featured destinations received matched interest, supporting the campaign’s objective of broadening the conversation beyond the country’s most familiar names.

From Scroll to Search

Perhaps the most revealing part of the campaign is what happened after the initial interaction.

The engagement post generated 1,851 profile actions, 133 new follows and 69 outbound link taps—a movement the report describes as attention progressing towards decision-making.

For destination wedding marketers, this creates an important content cue: couples may discover a destination through emotion and aspiration, but they increasingly need specific, actionable information before taking the next step.

Thailand Through the Couple’s Lens

The report ultimately presents a portrait of Indian couples who are looking beyond a one-dimensional destination wedding. They are exploring destinations through personality, experience, logistics and the larger journey of being together.

From the coastal appeal of Krabi, Phuket and Koh Samui to the wider portfolio of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi, Khao Lak and Hua Hin, the campaign demonstrates the breadth of possibilities available within Thailand.

The takeaway is not simply that Indian couples are choosing Thailand. It is that they are looking to find a Thailand that feels distinctly theirs.
