Luxury fashion takes on a deeply evocative form as Saim Ghani unveils his latest collection presented at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI at Aza Kala Ghoda—creations that blur the lines between mythology, memory, sensuality, and contemporary craftsmanship.

Inspired by the drapes and ornamentation seen in traditional Indian mythology, temple sculptures, and temple architecture, the collection becomes an artistic exploration of the human form. Through sculpted patchworks layered over sheer fabrics, Saim creates silhouettes that feel both fluid and structured—where sensuality and mystery coexist effortlessly. The collection reimagines traditional Indian clothing through a distinctly modern lens, evolving heritage dressing into something very personal yet strikingly current.

Weaving Together Identity and Heritage

At the heart of the collection lies a powerful emotional narrative. It is a rendition of Saim’s most vivid childhood memories—moments where the sounds of the azaan and the shankh echoed together while he sat at the feet of Goddess Durga. These layered cultural and spiritual influences shaped his creative consciousness, eventually becoming the foundation of his design language. The collection reflects this harmonious confluence of traditions, identities, and emotions that define the spirit of modern India.

Textiles play a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. Rich silk chanderi forms the foundation, elevated through satin and silk patchworks, fluid jersey drapes, and ribbed edgings that add depth and movement to every piece. Surface ornamentation recreates traditional Indian jewellery and ceremonial adornments—necklaces, armbands, kamarbandh, and bangles through intricate quilting, pearls, sequins, silver metal threads, crystals, handmade cloth tassels, and cord fringes.

The result is a collection that feels cinematic yet intimate, rooted in nostalgia while embracing fearless experimentation. Every piece carries a sense of storytelling, inviting the wearer into a world where heritage is not preserved in stillness, but constantly evolving.
